How to access parent project from component project in loopback workspace

Planning to use loopback workspace in my project. Trying to design a application as mentioned in loopback workspace read me documentation

/my-project
    /my-component-a
    package.json

But I am not getting any good example for loopback workspace. How to access "my-compoent-a" from "my-project"?
