Integrating Socket.io (NodeJS) with Perl Catalyst app?

I've made a very simple socket.io node.js application I'm using to pass real-time messages.

I've got a large Perl application built in Catalyst and I'm trying to integrate them together so I can view the messages in real time via the catalyst web app while they are handle by Node.

I've tried including the script for socket.io.js in my catalyst template but it won't get it which is leading me to believe this'll be harder than I thought.

Has anyone tried this before or have any advice/help to offer?
