Best technology for realtime dynamic web application

I have to build a web (later also the mobile app) application with the following features:

• realtime notifications (like facebook notifications)


• plugin architecture to dynamically extend application features


• realtime charts and content sharing among users

Now I wanted to use PHP Laravel for the project but I have some concern regarding the realtime notification. I though about two different solutions:

• Laravel PHP + MariaDB + AngularJS + Socket.io for notifications


• NodeJS + MongoDB + AngularJS + Socket.io for notifications

My question is, for realtime applications, what is the suggested stack for such kind of applications?
